Purchased movie on iTunes will not play

I purchased a movie last year. I don't want to download it. The movie launches and then the screen goes blank. I went back to the itunes store and my account shows the movie ready for either playing or downloading.

See If you can't stream or watch video content from the iTunes Store or third-party apps - Apple Support.
