ipod classic sync problem

tried to sync my classic to itunes to download some music but nothing happened. the ipod was showing it was connected.

See Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using iTunes on your computer - Apple Support. Perhaps you need to adjust your sync selections to include the new music.
