Spam causing Icloud to be unusable.

Hello,

So I would really like to use my ICloud email account but the problem is the entire email inbox has completely become a spam box. I will drag emails to the spam folder and delete emails and regardless within a week I have thousands of emails and its super frustrating. My email box today is sitting over 6k emails because I have pretty much given up on moving emails..I was wondering if there is anything I can really do to correct this or do I have to make a new Apple ID to even make the email usable again? Do they allow you to change the ICloud email address at all?
