Macbook Pro 2019 screen flickering when using integrated graphic card

The screenshot shows my computer. Screen flickering happens when it's using integrated graphic card, but it's OK when using Radeon Pro 555X 4 GB.

Not whole screen flickers, but only the bottom of the screen.

Anyone can help? Thanks in advance.

SOLVED AS

The first step you need to take in switching to using the integrated graphics processor exclusively is to head over to the Apple menu. From there, select “Systems Preferences” and from the next set of options, click on “Energy Saver”. Another menu will appear and from here you should deselect the automatic graphics switching by clicking on the checkbox.

I just purchased a

mid-2019 MacBook Pro (MacBookPro15,2)

2.4 GHz Intel Core i5

Model A1989, Product Z0WQ

16GB RAM 2133 MHz LPDDR3

Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB

MacOS Mojave 10.14.6, Dark Mode

I too have a similar issue. My flashing/glitch is towards the bottom of the screen like yours but only shows up for 0.5s or less.. and is usually bright magenta or green. I cannot intentionally replicate the issue, it just seems to happen randomly or at least when I have several applications running for school.. ie Word, PowerPoint, Safari (multiple windows each with multiple tabs), iCal, Mail..etc.

From what I have read, the issue might be related to the computer's sleep/awake settings and or the auto dim settings. I haven't had any issue after performing the following steps

1) Reset the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

2) Reset the NVRAM/PRAM https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063

3) Turn off "Automatically adjust brightness" and "True Tone"(System Preferences > Displays > Uncheck these options)

4) Turn off "Night Shift"

5) Turn display off after 15 minutes. (System Preferences > Energy Saver > Battery > Turn display off after 15min)

No idea which one actually solved the issue but hope this helps.

Hi there,

I have:

-MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2019)

2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9

16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4

Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

I have upgraded to Catalina 10.15.1

I tried the following as per post above:

1) Reset the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

2) Reset the NVRAM/PRAM https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063

3) Turn off "Automatically adjust brightness" and "True Tone"(System Preferences > Displays > Uncheck these options)

4) Turn off "Night Shift"

5) Turn display off after 15 minutes. (System Preferences > Energy Saver > Battery > Turn display off after 15min)

This has done nothing and screen is still flickering every 30 seconds or so.

PLEASE help!

Same here. MBP 15" 2019, i9, 16GB with the Intel UHD 630 and Radeon Pro 560X.

Running macOS Catalina 10.15.1, but behaviour occurred on Mojave too.

Behaviour does not occur when using the Radeon GPU - only the Intel GPU. Have tried all the things the other posters have tried.

Behaviour seems more aggressive when using Firefox and Slack. Behaviour also seems to occur if I disconnect from an LG Ultrafine 4K display, sleep the MBP then resume from sleep without the dock or display connected. Behaviour seems not to occur if I reboot after disconnecting from the display. Behaviour doesn't *seem* to occur if I disconnect from a Caldigit TS3 Plus with 2 screens attached and repeat the sleep > wake process.

Beware of that, since dedicated graphics use more battery, you will get less hours of stand up time.

This partial fix applies only for the 15"/16" models that have a dedicated graphics cards, this option will not appear on the 13" models AFAIK.

I'm pretty sure that this issue can be resolved with a graphics drivers update... don't know why Apple is doing nothing about this issue, it's frustating.
