printer "offline"

My Macbook no longer recognizes my HP 252dw. The printer is working fine. It is recognized by other computers and prints via USB connection. It just does not print from my Macbook.

The Macbook will not let me install the printer from the + in the add printer dialog. When I try to print the dialog box says printer is offline.

I am running Mohave; latest revision.

At the direction of Apple Support I have deleted and re-added printer driver, turned power off and on router, printer and macbook individually and together.

Someone must know the answer to getting the macbook to recognize the printer.

Thank you

If all of your printers have been removed, and none can be added...

  • Reset the SMC and NVRAM:

Sometimes System Caches are corrupted, and need to be recreated. Reset these, and all would refresh itself:

Reset the SMC and Reset the NVRAM

  • Download to Mojave Drivers - Get them Here:

Then, to install it, go directly through HP: HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw - Software and Driver Downloads

  • Contact HP - Chat, if Needed:

If need be, chat with HP, using the HP Virtual Agent
