IPad Pro 12.9 3rd gen touch response problems

Over the past month I’ve had repetitive issues with touch not responding on my iPad Pro 12.9 3rd gen. My iPencil 2nd gen is working great. I use a lot of art programs, along with video and music apps. Touch response while tapping, pinching to zoom or reposition and just sliding a finger has either no response or a large delay. My screen is clean, I’ve hard reset numerous times, iOS is up to date along with my apps. I’ve even factory reset my iPad and the problem persists. When I purchased this there were non of these problems. I’ve done a lot of research into this and have found many others are having the same issues on their iPad pros with no solutions. There have even been people that have gotten replacement iPads and yet the issue persists. All I can determine is that either it’s a hardware defect or ios12 has caused these problems in only the iPad pros. It would be great to see Apple address this situation as either a hardware or software defect and take care of it seeing as the iPad pros are not cheap.

Yes.

At least in these iPad support communities this is very well known.

This unresponsive touch screen issue affects, at least, 1000 users or more across all three model years of the larger screen iPad Pro models.

iPad Pro users have been reporting this unresponsive touch screen issue since the introduction of iOS 12 last Fall 2019.

Only the 2016, 9.7 inch screen iPad Pro models seem unaffected by this unresponsive touch screen issue.

There is, at least one of these iPad Pro non-responsive touch screen issues a day!

Currently, at this very late date in the iOS 12 update cycle, THERE IS NO VARIFIED FIX FROM APPLE on this issue.

There has no confirmed fix for this from Apple in any iOS 12 updates.

Since you own a newer, 2018 iPad Pro, you can try this confirmed, temporary user fix of toggling OFF the Tap to Wake feature in the iOS Settings app, then immediately do a restart/reboot of your 3rd gen iPad Pro.

There is no temporary fix for this unresponsive touch screen issue for any older iPad Pro models affected.

The best you can do is continue to alert Apple to this growing issue.

The only way to get Apple to, DIRECTLY, listen to you is to use their feedback portion of their website.

iPad Feedback

http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

Cognizant Apple employees read ALL feedback generated from all of the various feedback pages and transfers the data to the proper and responsible Apple teams and personnel , but NO Apple employees will ever respond with any type of direct, individual replies from the feedback you post.

The more users that post product feedback about any product issue, the faster Apple is made aware and starts working on a fix/solution for a quicker, future software update.

Also, you may want to phone contact Apple, directly in Cupertino, California, and calmly talk to an Apple customer service employee about this issue via the link below.

Yellow BlahhDBlahh, After reading rdrylawski thread reply I was wondering if you have made any adjustments in the General > Accessibility > Touch Accommodations ? Under Interaction I have the assistive touch turn on, but I believe that was the default as I don’t remember turning it on. I have the iPad Pro 12.9 3rd gen too, but have not experienced this touch response issue.
