Volume drops drastically on bass hits with apple carplay

Hi, i recently got an Apple Carplay head Unit , and i’ve noticed that specifically with Apple Carplay, whenever there is a bass hit in songs, the volume of the whole song gets drastically lower in volume. I assume its not a head unit issue, as whenever i listen to music from another input, it sounds amazing. I also know for a fact it is not a phone issue, as i started on ios 12.4 on my iphone xr, and i also tested it with an iphone 5 that has an older version of ios, and it had the same issues. I am using USB Carplay, if that makes a difference. Please help, this is driving me crazy!
