Home Bar Annoyance

I have been using my iPhone XR for a few months now, and I find the home bar being a great pain in the a** when I want to rewind or fast forward a video by dragging the progress bar of the video.

When watching a video in full screen landscape mode, the video progress bar sits at the bottom of the screen, exactly where the iPhone home bar is. When trying to drag the video progress bar when the current progress (play head) is near the home bar, 99% of the time I will end up activating the home bar instead.

I wonder if there is a way to disable the home bar, or at least make it non-active while playing a full screen video.
