Ipad still sees wifi-network but no internet connection
I've been using a 1st generation AirPort Extreme to create a Wifi network in my basement. I run a power line adapter from my providers router (that also provides wifi upstairs) then connect the Airport to it's output downstairs.
This is working fine for my Mac I have set up there mini running High Sierra, with literally no dropouts ever.
But when trying to use my iPad or iPhone in the Patio that is next to the basement I get dropouts multiple times a day.
Lot's of times the iPad for instance will connect but not load any pages. Other times it will state that the password is incorrect, and when I enter it, it will say "unable to join the network".
I've tried restarting/resetting the airport as well as resetting, dis/re connecting the whole chain to the main router, switching to bridge mode, changing the channels, forgetting the network on iPad, resetting network settings on iPad, disabling auto-join etc.
Would it maybe help to fiddle with the DNS or IP dress settings on the iPad? As I'm not very familiar with how this works I'm not sure where to begin. Could it be the iPhone and iPad are taking turns trying to "grab" connection and they should be assigned a fixed position in the "connection cue"?
If not I might try a wifi repeater to extend my main wifi network.
any help would be greatly appreciated
