duplitcate imessages

i have imessages going to 2 phones when it should only go to one. My child is getting my imessages and shouldnt. How do i stop this with an iphone xr and an iphone 6s

Should have guessed. Create an Apple ID for your child and then remove yours from their phone and sign in with the new on on their phone. Also turn off iMessage and FaceTime and sign back in with the new one. After that click on the second link I provided to you in order to set up Family Sharing (you will be able to approve/disapprove any apps your child wants, etc.) then read the other link to set up Screen Time on their phone.
