iMessage
I am able to add reactions to my normal iMessage texts but not to gifs or photos. I used to be able to do this and then had to have my phone replaced. How can I fix this?

What happens when you try? A simple double-tap on the photo or gif should provide you with the tapback option. Just remember this only works for iMessage. Use message effects with iMessage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

It would be better if you can please post a screenshot, in order to understand the phenomenon better.
You may get better and prompt responses if you may kindly provide the iPhone Model that you have and the iOS version if it is known to you.
I was holding it down like you can with a text message and it would give me the option to send the picture instead of react to it - I didn’t realize you could double tap and to get the reactions to appear 🤦🏻♀️ User error! Thank you!
You're welcome. Enjoy your iPhone.
