After having enough time to test the latest Beta on two units I can conclude that the major issue is resolved for the most part. There is a visual cue as well when the phone is on call you notice a faint red spherical light emitting from inside the slot above the ear speaker.
Michael Empire please post of pic of the latest version of xcode running on your screen and a screenshot of one of the numerous units you have tested. Otherwise I have doubts whether you are Beta testing.

In general, all Iphone 4 phones have a problem with proximity sensor. There are a lot of video proofs shown in youtube regarding this problem but I have not seen a single video about Iphone 4 not having a proximity sensor problem.
If there are people that believe that Iphone 4 does not have a problem, then these people are either working for Apple, stockholders of Apple or member of their cult
Yes, Apple will not go down due to Iphone 4's flaws because there are still a lot of gullible people that will buy an Apple product just to sit in Starbucks and show off.
But nowadays Iphone 4 is not looked as a fashion product anymore but a person that has it will be a laughingstock instead.
this is the most ridiculous post on here by far. (aside of course from mbassoc saying there is no issue... that was actually the most ridiculous post)
WRONG
you are so wrong it is almost laughable.
I see two issues here....
1. I think the proximity sensor is the same in all phones, it's just that the majority of users have no problem interacting with their phones.
2. There allegation that there are stacks of YouTube videos showing faulty sensors is pure bullsh!t. There are stacks of videos showing a sensor working in a different manner to the previous model, but not a single video showing it actually being faulty.
1. blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
too much talk. the issue here is iphone 4 not previous model.
post a video. I need Proof.

Yes that is exactly what I am saying. Come 4.1 there will be nothing left to complain about.....
I have a developers license but I am closer to Media than to being a developer. Of course Apple could remove my developers account and or my posts. But why would they? I have said next to nothing about their Betas, just relating to the proximity sensor. I have posted several times over the course of my experience with the iPhone 4 dating back to June 23rd.
Please lock this thread already. There is nothing more to discuss. This is my final comment on this topic by the way.

If the issue is a simple recalibration of how the software interprets the sensor data, whi are we six weeks fdown the line and three betas further on, and yet they can bang out an update within 7 days to fix the PDF flaw, and likeise with the antenna issue when the heat was on?

Boy, you're thick, aren't you?
Can you read english? And know what the words mean?
What I said was all the sensors are the same. You don't have phones with faulty sensors, and phones with working sensors. They all work the same.
The issue with the above post is actually your grasp of a language you've just learned to speak. You may well have been born speaking it, but you obviously haven't yet progressed your education to a level that allows you to understand it.
