2019 Macbook pro audio input
What does the MacBook Pro recognise to input audio through the headphone jack? I want to copy LPs through my amp to the MBP.

So you have a proper phono amp? I say that as someone whose first stereo setup included an integrated amp with a switchable phono/line-level input with a built-in phono amp.
It really depends on your setup. I could image all sorts of ways to get it to an MBP, but it will probably require a USB adapter of some kind. I'm not sure if you're thinking of ordinary stereo RCA jacks or if you've got something like a preamp/receiver that can put out digital optical output.
Something like this does a little of everything. However, it's got RCA in, which I'm thinking is probably what you need to connect it to your turntable or preamp.

Thanks. Unfortunately I think it all revolves around the MBP plugs. There are three USB C and one headphone out which allegedly can also be used as input. I can only get it to recognise Apple ear phones of they have a microphone. I used to digitise LPs with my amp/turntable but this is a challenge....
Didn’t you post another similar question? I think the mods might have deleted it since it had the same title and seemed like a double post. I responded with a link to an article showing how to switch the headphone jack to an input. However, that article was from 2012 so you’d have to see if newer models can do it. If that works, a simple RCA to 3.5 mm stereo adapter would work.
