PROBLEM SIGNING IN WHEN STARTING MACBOOK PRO 2018

When I start my macbook pro it will no longer accept my username/password. What is happening and how do I fix it?

Logging In I have a MacBook Pro that I have not turned on in about 2 months. I tried logging in to enter the lap top however it is rejecting my password. When using the alternative to use my Apple ID and password to sign in, it rejects that also. I checked for spelling, caps lock and everything however nothing is working. How do I go about resolving this issue?

It's my username & password that suddenly are not accepted. Nothing to do with Apple ID.
