Apple Card invite email

I received an invitation email about getting early access to Apple Card, but every time I tried to apply, an error message always pops up and says "Apple Card Unavailable. Apple Pay services are currently unavailable. Please try again later."

I tried calling Apple support too, but they can't seem to figure our which department to direct my call to, spend most of the time waiting for transfer and the call was disconnected after 15 minutes..

Any one experiencing the same issue trying to apply for the Apple Card? I was really excited to receive the invite, and really bummed that it's not working :(

Hey y’all.

Just figured I would let everyone know Apple is completely aware of the issue, and to remedy temporarily they are sending out invites over the next 48 hours to anybody that presses the “Notify Me” button on the Apple Card website and enters a valid email address associated with an iCloud-enabled Apple ID. Even people that entered correct emails are getting follow-up emails from Apple about this new process.

I messed up too, and on day-one entered my iTunes/Store-use Apple ID on the Apple Card Preview site. I got an invite at that email, but of course, since I am signed into a completely different Apple ID for iCloud on my iPhone, it’s not working. Even though I am signed into the iTunes/Store-use Apple ID on the exact same device (since you can use multiple Apple ID’s on one iPhone.)

The way the system should work is that the invite simply detects that at least one of two Apple ID’s is signed in to the desired iPhone to apply for Apple Card, and then it automatically associates itself with your iCloud-use Apple ID upon application approval. I informed an Apple Support rep about this and they said they’ve referred it up to the engineers.

I couldn’t imagine I was the only one, hence why now Apple is suggesting to simply re-apply using the “Notify Me” button with a reassurance that invites will take up to 48 hours to show up, since the initial invites that went out are non-transferable and the infrastructure probably doesn’t exist to override these conditions.

These are the instructions going out to those that applied to be notified but may have entered an incorrect email, but again, even those that entered the correct email are being notified, which I guess you could say is a glitch. I’m not too sure about that but I’d imagine Apple is working to fix that as well, so just hang in there.

All in all, re-apply on apple.com/apple-card and you should be good to go within 48 hours.

Super easy fix.

If you used an email not associated with your iCloud but got the invitation to another email IT WILL NOT WORK.

You’ll need to sign into iCloud using the email you got the invitation from.

Now if if you can’t use that email anymore you’ll need to reapply using your current iCloud email.

This is happened to me. Tested theory out and luckily was able to sign into my old iCloud email to apply.

I had same issue as everyone else, receiving invitation and getting error message when trying to apply. I just spoke with Apple Support and they knew immediately what the problem was - The invitation was sent to my iTunes id. The id that should be used is your iCloud account id. The only options given were to sign out of my iCloud account and then back in with my iTunes account with a stern warning that I may lose or at least not have any access to all my iCloud connected items, like contacts. The only other option is to wait until the general release of the card. I could be wrong but I don't recall seeing anything about which email to use. Different emails for iTunes id's and iCloud id's has long been an issue with apple and I guess I just found another example. I would think apple could simply send another invitation to the email they want but didn't specify. I thought wrong apparently.

Are any of the people having the issue aol or ex-aol users by anychance? I tried calling support and didn't get an official answer and they are passing on my feedback. But hoping this could help atleast 1 other user lol

So when I follow the instructions in the email, and checking on the computer and the phone...the apple id is all correct in my account everywhere. As a last ditch effort, I tried the apple website to recover my apple ID and it returned the aim.com address instead of the aol.com address.

I am gonna throw a theory out there as I vaguely remember initially signing up for itunes with just the aol screen name...later they forced to use an email. It appears I have a duplicate account from 10+ years ago and/or they are getting crossed up due to similiar info.

Try using the apple id recovery link and see if you get the address you think you should for your account.

So I was on a LONG call with Apple Support and a senior engineer and my issue is finally resolved. The Apple ID I had for the iTunes Store was not an email address and it did not have an email associated with it. I had to change that Apple ID to my gmail address. Then I had to sign in again to the Store using my gmail address (the password did not change) and password. Once I did that, I was able to go back to my original invitation email and the link worked and I now have my Apple Card!! My advice is go to appleI’d.apple.com and sign in. If you have two IDs try it with both. If you get a message that your ID is not associated with an email, use a different email address and then try the invitation again. Good luck.

I went to the Apple Store for a unrelated issue and thought I'd brought it up and see if they know anything about this.. Turns out within the limited invite emails they send out, there's a quota of how many people can actually apply, ie just because you receive the invitation email doesn't mean you can apply, which is what that error message means..

So case closed I guess.. Since I didn't click on the link and apply right away, I have to wait till September when it actually comes out... Kind of a stupid system in my opinion :(

Are you running 12.4? I ask because I never saw a screen on my phone with that picture on it.

Also, can you tell what the message under the alert says? It even mentions a "Salt Lake City Branch"? Maybe you already applied or were approved?

I would stop and wait an hour and try again. When I was hammering the application process (many attempts), my phone eventually also said what your alert says, then stopped later, so I feel like it's a security mechanism.

The email address that the invite went to - is that definitely the same as your iCloud account email (NOT your iTunes store account email?)

I think that might be my problem. The email went to my Gmail account and not my icloud account. So when I tap the link, Apple Card doesn't want to issue it to a Gmail address. The Apply Now email would have to have been sent to my iCloud account.

I'm not 100% sure this is the explanation... but it's possible.

Mine worked today....FINALLY.....as well. I didn’t even have to go to the email. I just went to the wallet app, clicked the plus, clicked CONTINUE, and there was the option. I was through the process, approved, and could use the card through Apple Pay in less than 2 minutes. So for what the hassle was worth and the nonsense about early access...in the end the process worked flawlessly.
