My solution seemed to require i turn off my VPN temporarily.
If you want to, you can send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.
How NOT to even have to use an appleid and not get annoyed is a solution i do not have. If only all the professional apple eggheads at this billion dollar company could figure that out they would be earning their pay.
