Samsung smart tv Apple tv app sign in issues

Hey all,

i recently bought a new samsung tv with the apple tv app on it. Initially i could log in with no issues so i bought and watched some movies. For a few days now however i can no longer sign in. I tried resetting the app, re-downloading it, and i also removed the samsung tv from my apple id profile so that i could do a clean log in with a new auth. code.

it always gets stuck on the sign in with the rotating waiting icon but never moves beyond that. Also using the option with using a mobile device to log in results in that waiting screen and never going to the screen with the QR code.

does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!!

On the advice of Samsung and Apple I ended up installing the latest update file via USB and then performed a factory reset. That in turn corrected the problem. Apple TV app works again!
