Will installation of Snow Leopard from DVD work on iMac with wiped out HD?

Hi,

I have an old iMac (circa 2008) with a wiped-out HD.

I am intending to buy the box of Snow Leopard DVDs (https://www.https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard?afid=p231|camref:1101lmYI&cid=AOS-US-AFF-PHG)

Will the installation of Snow Leopard work if I just pop in the DVD's, even though the iMac has no OS at the moment and a zeroed-out memory?
