So I was simply charging my Mac and everything was good and suddenly I hit turned off the extension cord and then the battery icon is glitched - well the charging works and stuff - but I can't hear the sound when it's charging and it shows me the "energy" icon when I'm not charging. Can someone please tell me how to fix this?

First, I recommend disconnecting the extension cord, restarting your Mac, then testing the issue with your Mac connected directly to the power outlet. If you have another cable, I also suggest trying to charge it with another cable and adapter.
Additionally, check for any physical damage to the charging cable or to the power adapter. If you see any damage, carry your device into an Apple Authorized Service Provider: Find Locations
If no damage is present and the issue continues, reset the SMC: How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac
