MacBook Pro suddenly shows yesterdays date and wrong time even though in the preferences it is set to "Set date and time automatically" Today is the 12th about 8:40 PM

If the Time Zone is correct, then just uncheck and re-check "Set Date & Time Automatically" to see if it will resync.


If neither of these suggestions work, then try an SMC reset and PRAM reset (hold the PRAM reset for a full minute so it activates several times). You may need to do the resync after the resets since macOS can take a while sometimes to sync automatically.


If you still have problems, then you may need to delete the Date & Time preferences in ~/Library/Preferences/. You will need to set the Date & Time, Timezone again after deleting the preference file.
