When i select a place that i want to go to, there is no directions option to select. It only shows information about the place/location. Everything else seems to be working fine, i can see the map just fine, but it doesn't provide directions from one place to another. (iOS10.3.4, iphone 5)

Today, I was trying to get a route from Beirut, Lebanon to Damascus, Syria on iPhone 11 and iPad Pro 9.7” 1st gen, both on iOS 13.3. It didn’t work. Other routes e.g. in Portugal, Germany, Egypt worked. Google Maps however, gave me directions in Lebanon and Syria on those same devices. I’d have to take a guess that it’s Apple Maps not working properly.
Edit: Ok, I’ve checked the features availability and Syria and Lebanon aren’t on the list either. Why is that?

Same applies to me as per Yanni’s issue - holidaying from australia to Cyprus and maps directions doesn’t work at all.
I also see that the directions dont work in Cyprus but the directions appear for the illegally occupied area by turkey. So apple gives directions for an illegal “state” but not for the Legal European part of Cyprus?
it seems to me that there is a political issue behind the removal of directions option...!!!
So now Apple decided to drop the directions feature on apple maps in Cyprus? This used to be a feature in the near past and it is inconceivable that Apple would drop a feature that worked in the past. Any ideas on when this feature will return? Will it?
My map directions from one place to another is not working.
have this problem for 6 months since i bought the iphone xs new been reporting and talking to apple support and no fix yet

My country is indeed listed under the Maps Direction section(Cyprus). I also used to be able to get directions in the near past.
Yes, i am able to see my current location in the map.
This happens when connected to a Wifi connection as I almost always use my home Wifi.
No I am not able to see directions to a different address near my current location, in fact nowhere in my country (Cyprus).
However, i just noticed that the directions option is available in other countries that I checked out of curiosity. So it seems that the problem is only in my country (Cyprus).

Unfortunately this seems to be a regional problem. We have an iPhone XS Max, and iPhone 7 Plus, an iPhone XR, an iPad Pro 10.5”, and iPad 6th Gen and they all have the same issue ever since updating to the final versions of iOS 13. This continues even today with iOS 13.1 and iPadOS 13.
None of the devices is able to obtain even the simplest of directions in Cyprus.
Everything worked fine up until iOS 12.4.1.
Cyprus is still listed under the regions in which Apple Maps directions is available.
So this is either a major bug or Apple removed it on purpose!
Whatever the reason, this needs to be fixed ASAP! Or at least remove Cyprus from the available regions and issue an announcement.
Same for me, after updating apple maps stoped to give directions.
