Garageband adds another minute when exporting a song

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to export a project as expected from GarageBand on your MacBook Pro, as you get some unexpected silence at the end. To help with this, please make sure you're specifying the correct regions when exporting and here is more info:

turn on the Cycle Region button, stretch the yellow bar to exactly encompass the length of your song, choose Export Song to Disk from the share menu, and check the Export Cycle Area tickyBox
