Message notifications turning on screen while in call causing face to accidentally press buttons.....help?!?

How do I stop message notifications from turning on my iPhone XR screen while I am in a call? They are causing my face to accidentally press buttons and turn on the speaker phone or convert the call to facetime, etc..... This didn't used happen with my iPhone 7, but happens consistently on my iPhone XR. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

You can make changes to how the notifications appear in general, but not specifically when on a phone call.

Go to Settings > Notifications > Messages. Then make changes. Perhaps changing "Show Previews" will help.

Use notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Good luck.
