Now that you’ve clearly stated what you’re trying to do, I have a much better solution for you.

Keep that SIM in the iPhone. Simply establish a personal Hotspot from the iPhone! This uses the iPhone’s cellular data to establish a Wi-Fi connection which the iPad can use.

Save your money and buy a Wi-Fi-only iPad.

I wanted to be able to use an iPad on car trips and places where there is no WiFi. In the past I’ve used my iPhone to connect when there was no WiFi available.

Read on apple website that you can transfer the phone SIM card back and forth between the iPad Pro with cellular and the phone, without having to activate/add another device on Verizon account.

Finally got an answer from Verizon after no luck with apple.

YES, I can use my iPhone SIM card in the iPad Pro for cellular connection to the internet.; have to do something with the device ID settings each time. Just wanted to make sure before purchasing.

Your post is somewhat confusing.

You can get this by using a Wi-FI connection. If you have access to Wi-Fi, save your money and purchase a Wi-Fi-only iPad. I have used iPads for years and never had one with a cellular capability.

An iPad is not a cellular telephone. Even if you get a cellular iPad and use your iPhone’s SIM, neither the iPad nor the Apple Watch can make or receive calls.
