apple watch and data SIM card

Hi!

I have an extra data SIM card at home. I would like to use in for an apple watch. Is this possible or do I need a regular mobile SIM card? Would most functions still work? Like, I assume that using the phone function wouldn't as it is only data SIM card. I would appreciate your input! Chris

Apple watches don't take physical SIM cards. They have no actual slot for a SIM card.

The use digital eSims which normally are tied to the paired iPhone's number and service.
