I had never tried this before, so I searched Google and found

in the "Add Passes" section of > Use Wallet on your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support

When I fire up Wallet App, I am presented with a screen where I choose [GET]

Sliding up from the bottom, I get the option to "Scan Code"

This opens the Camera App with a "four-corned reticle ('sight')" to aim at the code

I tap the WEBSITE QR CODE "bubble" with the location in it to open it in Safari

Aiming the camera at a BARCODE has no reticle reaction

I can find no BUILT-IN "barcode" scanning capability !!!

The link found in the article > Use Wallet on your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support < > " Scanning a barcode or QR code " results in the article > Scan a QR code with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support which has NO MENTION of barcodes at all

Google search indicates that there are 3rd party apps that scan barcodes, but I will stop now without finding them in the App Store and testing any

Hmmm...

It could be that I found how allaboutsummer POOFed the feature

When I choose the " X " on the "... Passes ..." panel, it goes POOF - BUT I can find no way to GET IT BACK

Tried SETTINGS > Wallet and there is nothing there ABOUT Passes at all

There is nothing that I can find in the CAMERA app that "directly" has to do with a code scanner = it IS true that the Camera App is just "smart" = all the time "looking" for the existence of a QR code

As I said in my latest post, I tapped the " X " at top right of that panel and I cannot find how to get the panel back

Anyway, there is NO built-in barcode scanner - there are APPS on the App Store

Te QR code scanner IS built-in to the camera app - a square "sight" appears when near a QR code and a "bubble" with the website to which it points appears when you get it "sighted in" - then TAP the bubble to go there in Safari

You don't have to take any action other than pointing the camera at the code for this to happen

My bar code scanner disappeared, with Wallet I can only use it as Apple Cash pay
