Range Rover and IPhone 8 text messages via bluetooth

I have a 2013 Range Rover Sport and can get my phone to connect via Bluetooth for music and phone calls but cannot receive text message alerts. I do not have airplay showing up on my iPhone 8, except for music. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
