Using old iMac as MacAir monitor
I have a 2009 iMac, 5,1. It seems to have a mini DVI port rather than a Mini DisplayPort. How can I use this as a monitor for my MacAir? I don’t seem to find connecting cables for the mini DVI. Thanks for any help.

Then your best bet is to get an external monitor for your MBA and connect that. Your question is asked many times a week on these forums and unless you have just the right combination of Macs Target Display Mode will not work.

Please read Use your iMac as a display with Target Display Mode , it may work assuming the iMac is a 27" model. If it's an early 2009 (20-24") or a 21.5" model nope no way and no work arounds.
Thx. Yes, it’s early 2009. The info linked refers to mini display mode models, which I guess mine isn’t. It’s got that mini dvi port instead. Drat. Hope against hope.
Thx!
Your welcome.
