Change Display of MacAir to IMAC monitor

Hello I am trying to connect my Mac Air 11 inch (2014) to use the monitor of my IMAC 21.5 inch (2010). I just want to use the big monitor working from my MacAir. I bought a Mini DisplayPort Cable that connects ok with both computers, but in the Display setting I don' get the Arrangement option to connect both monitors and change the display. Any guidance?

Note: Target Display Mode isn’t supported on iMac models with Retina display. Only iMac (27-inch, Late 2009), iMac (27-inch, Mid 2010), and iMac (Mid 2011 to Mid 2014) support Target Display Mode.

Your 2010 iMac 21.5 inch does not have the capability to be used in the Target Display Mode.
