Can’t backup iPad to iTunes

I just updated iTunes and successfully backed up my iPhone, but it won’t backup my iPad Air 2. It only gives me two choices: set up as new iPad or restore from previous backup. I realized that I had the iPad set to Cloud backup so I turned that off, but still no luck. It sees the name of the iPad but not that it already has 30GB worth of apps and data. Any thoughts?

Now if I try to connect the iPad to iTunes I get a message asking if I want to set it up as a new iPad or restore a backup from my iPhone. I don't want to do either of those things. iPad back up to iTunes Hi im trying to back up my iPad (which I’ve been using a number of years) to iTunes. But when I connect I get the following message - ‘welcome to your new iPad. Do you want to set up as new of from another (large iPhone) back up.’ how do I get to the screen that will just allow a back up?

iPhone/iPad back up I have just purchased a new MacBook Pro which I intend to be the hub of my tech needs. I have successfully backed up and updated 2 iPhones but when I connect my iPad Pro iTunes only offers the options of treating it as a new iPad or restoring it using one of the iPhone backups

Hello,

If you tap on “Set up as new iPad” it should not erase your device. It will just associate your iPad to your Macintosh or Windows PC.
