Apache Open Office Quits Unexpectedly

Yeah, I know there are something like thirty-five million posts related to this problem, I spent an hour or two trying to follow some of them and they all lead to more links to another thread which has a link to another thread...does anyone actually know the solution? I know it is out there, I am trying to load an OO document on a mid-2010 MBP running High Sierra 10.13.6 (won't run later Mac operating systems), I had this issue a few weeks ago with a newish iMac running Mojave, I found the solution (I don't remember it or I wouldn't be here right now). It was an easy solution, can anyone tell me how to make Open Office run on Mac operating systems without sending a link (which will direct me to another link, directing me to another link...)?

Download the free LibreOffice v6.3.0.4 by clicking the yellow download box. This will switch web pages, and eventually start your download. Click nothing on that page.

Double-click the installer in your Downloads folder. When the installer opens, you drag/drop the LibreOffice icon onto the Applications folder icon in the installer window. Once this is done, there will be a progress window as LibreOffice is actually installed in the Applications folder. Once done, you can eject the LibreOffice installer (.dmg) from your Desktop.

Because LibreOffice is not from the Mac App Store, you must perform a one-time ritual to have the operating system validate it from a security perspective. In the /Applications folder, locate the LibreOffice icon, right-click on it, and choose Open. You will first see this:

and when it is complete, you will receive another dialog:

where you click Open. LibreOffice will then launch. The one-time ritual is done, and you may use, or quit the current LibreOffice session. Subsequetly, you would launch LibreOffice normally, whether by dragging and dropping it on your Dock for a one-click solution, or by other means. You can now right-click on Open Document files or Word files and choose Open With to find LibreOffice on that sub-menu.

LibreOffice user guides are also available.

Thanks for that reply Rudegar but the easy solution I was talking about was along the lines of perhaps hold down this key while clicking in this other place, or whatever...two or three weeks ago I figured out a way to get around this problem, someone else must have seen that solution as well - there must be a way to make OO work with Mac osx (I am now able to use OO on my iMac, running the latest version of Mohave, since I did this, what I am looking for, two or three weeks ago).

Why the fixation on the problematic, and infrequently updated OpenOffice?

There is a sound, practical reason why many of us switched from OpenOffice to LibreOffice many years ago, and personally, I have never regretted switching to the better product, why maintaining OpenOffice document compatibility. I date back to using StarOffice on Solaris to open Word documents that Word would not open.
