Spilled ginger ale on MacBook Pro, but its working fine. Should I be freaking out?
I wanted to watch something on my new Kindle, and turned off the light, but stupidly reached for my drink in the dark and turned it (Canada Dry Ginger Ale and Lemonade) over. It spilled on my 13" MacBook Pro, and my desk. I promptly (perhaps a second later, certainly not much longer) rushed the MacBook to the other side of the dorm room and wiped the cover off with a rag and then wiped the keyboard and screen off. I don't think there was any intrusion into the keyboard, and there was only a tiny bit on the screen (the MacBook having been closed at the time), and I took off both parts of my case and wiped them down. I then wiped down the keys, screen, and the rest of the computer gently with a damp rag to try to get any sugary residue off, if any. That was about one hour ago, and the MacBook appears to be working just fine. No weird noises, no slowness, no glitches, nothing seems to be wrong with it. I bought my MacBook at my college computer store (NinerTech, UNC Charlotte), and got a Safewear plan with accident coverage, so I can get it fixed, though I do need it tomorrow for taking notes in my classes, answering emails from students (I am a TA), etc.
So my question is, if everything seems to be fine, and 99% of the spill (so far as I can tell) was on the case and promptly wiped off, is there any way to see if there is damage? Am I lucky, or is my computer a ticking time bomb waiting to crash in a spectacular manner at the most inopportune moment?
I am typing this from the same MacBook, which, at least now, is in perfect working order. The keys aren't even sticky, as I expected they might be.
