Rendering/Transcoding stuck on 16%-19%

I own a Imac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) with a 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 Processor, 4 GB of 1333 MHz DDr3 RAM, and a AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MD Graphics Card.

Recently I've created a Youtube channel based primarily off gameplay from various video games. I put the clips into a drive (along with the libraries that I used and continue to use for editing). Recently I've completed an video game "edit" (which is essentially showcases entertaining events that occur in the video game that I've collected clips from in a fun and fast paced way). When I create an edit I usually create proxy media as it is easier to edit with lower quality files. Before sharing my "edit" on my Youtube Channel, I switch back the media to optimized/original - better quality. I've never found any previous problems with the method, and this wasn't my first time doing this. I've often found success. This time I'm quite sure that I hadn't changed anything with settings, etc. but when I got to the rendering/transcoding stage, the background task box would always go to 0% 16% or 19% and just stop. I've done troubleshooting (duplicating the project, creating new libraries, events, restarting the program etc.) but i've found no success. My computer still has more than 500 GB of storage on it, and I have waited over the course for rendering and transcoding, but every time it seems to get stuck on 16% or 19%. Im sure it's not to do with file size either, I wouldn't consider this my most biggest project either. typically for me rendering a video takes a day or less, and my videos span from 5-10 minutes, this current one being 6 mins. I continue to attempt to render, and it is most likely still rendering as you read this. I hope that I don't have to restart my project and start from scratch.
