Faces in Photos not saving changes

There are several pictures in Photos that have been misidentified/mislabeled as the wrong person. I have gone through the process to make the corrections (i.e. "this is not..." and later naming the correct person). I have done this several times as the changes will not save. I will often go back into Photos to find the same pictures labeled with the original mislabel as if nothing was changed. I don't know what else to do. I've attempted to search online for a solution but have not found anything. Anyone else experience this & found a solution that has worked??

Hi butterflyt84,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand that when you try to make corrections or changes to People in Photos on your Mac the changes are not saving and you're seeing the photos revert to the incorrect information. I know how important it is to keep your photos organized properly; I'd like to help. First, I'd recommend starting your Mac in safe mode and try to make changes in Photos:

"Start up in safe mode

To start up in safe mode:

    1. Start or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key. The Apple logo appears on your display. If you don't see the Apple logo, learn what to do.
    2. Release the Shift key when you see the login window. If your startup disk is encrypted with FileVault, you might be asked to log in twice: once to unlock the startup disk, and again to log in to the Finder.

To leave safe mode, restart your Mac without pressing any keys during startup."

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

If you're able to successfully make changes, restart your Mac normally and test again. If the issue persists, use these steps to create a new user and test for the issue again. You'll need to have some photos you can add to the Photos app in order to test this: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Let me know what you find.

Best Regards.
