Updates and back ups
I have an unlimited data plan through my provider so I do not have a WiFi package and no availability to one. I need to backup my phone and update software. Can I do so without using WiFi?

Sorry, no, except creating a backup using iTunes on a computer.
Wifi connection is strictly needed to update your iPhone (wirelessly or via Itunes on a computer, that must be connected to an wifi network).
