I’m hoping that this is a simple question to answer; why do I need Internet to back up my phone, & iPads?

Can’t they update by themselves with my data/cell provider?

I one to time talk to Apple support and they told me to Back up my iPhone and download my updates using my iPad wifi?? Both devices use the same data provider it’s confusing to me. could someone help me?

iPhone 11, iOS 15

Because Wi-Fi is more stable, and in most places, doesn’t have a data cap (cough, cough, US)… Cellular data however, you might lose connection by being too far from a tower etc., and is much more likely to have a data cap.
