Screen Flicker with Outlook iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) 3.3 GHz Intel Core i5 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3 AMD Radeon R9 M395 2048 MB Mac OS 10.14.1 (18B75)

I have an I-Mac late 2015 build. With outlook you get random screen flicker. Having taken it to the store the response has been, outlook is a 3rd party application so we can't support issues with it.

My point is that this issue is specific to the build of that machine. I don't want to throw that machine in the bin so i'm wondering if someone can work out, what the issue is with the machine (Graphics card?) or what might be the issue with that build which causes it to have the flicker. Maybe we can fix them rather than junk them. Clearly this doesn't happen an all apple machines.

Thanks

Sorry i'm actually on 10.14.6 with the issue my error above. Thanks for your response. I've been digging around and the microsoft forums are awash with this issue. I've copied below in case this is of use to anyone else. Deeply disappointed that apple have not recognised this problem. I've been to the store multiple times and they keep telling me the machine is fine. such a pain..

ISSUE

We have identified an issue where macOS (primarily running Mojave) screen flickers on some of the iMac machines when using Outlook for Mac.

Scenario

You are most likely using an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch) machine. While using Outlook for Mac, the screen flickers and you need to reboot the machine to clear the issue.

STATUS: WORKAROUND

Apple has identified the root cause for this issue and has addressed it in their upcoming major macOS release (macOS Catalina version 10.15). Until this release is generally available, users are advised to apply the workaround described below.

Open Outlook in Low Resolution Mode. We understand this is not an ideal workaround, but it can help until the release of macOS Catalina version 10.15.

  Setting Low Resolution Mode

  1. Quit Outlook.
  2. Go to the Applications folder.
  3. Select Outlook.
  4. Go to Get Info by performing one of the following tasks:

    • Right click Outlook and go to Get Info.
    • Left click Outlook, choose file, and select Get Info.
    • Left click Outlook, press the Command key and the letter I.
  1. From the new window, check the box next to Low Resolution Mode.

You only have 8GB of RAM in these iMac's?

In my experience, 8GB is hardly enough for macOS alone with a couple of native macOS App's and then your asking them to run MS Outlook at the same time. Personally I would add another 8GB (2x4GB) or 16GB (2x8GB) to each of these machine. see > https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/iMac/Retina-5K2015/DDR3L

FWIW I'm not saying that a RAM upgrade will totally cure your problem. However, it very well could make a difference in machine's that are apparently struggling with assorted resource issues.
