Can't activate iPod Touch 2G

I reset my old iPod Touch because it was getting a little slow and I just wanted to start from the beginning. When it came to the step where I have to plug it in and use iTunes to activate it, iTunes says "We could not complete your iTunes Store request." with the error code 0x80090326. I want to know if there's any other way to activate my iPod.

That will be why then. See About App Store and iTunes Store availability - Apple Support. You need iTunes 12.6.5.3 or 12.7.2.58 or better to be able to work with the iTunes Store due to changes in encryption requirements brought in by the payments industry. Those in turn require Windows 7 or better. See About App Store and iTunes Store availability - Apple Support for background. Looks like iOS on the device itself is limited to version 4.2.1 which again excludes it from actively connecting to the store to activate itself over Wi-Fi. That model hasn't been supported for eight years.
