Cannot delete APP since updating to 12.4

How do you delete an app in iOS 12.4? When I press and hold the app now, instead of an X, I get a drop down to share and other items depending on the APP.

You're pressing too hard. Just rest your finger on the icon for 1-2 seconds.

Deleting apps I am running 16.1 on an iphone 11. When I delete an app, I hold down the icon where it would typically state delete. It says Remove App, then states Removing from Home Screen will keep the app in your App Library. It doesn't delete the app. I attempt to repeat the process from the app library, but it only provides two options: Share App or Add to Home Screen. HOW DO I DELETE APPS?
