I logged out of the mail app on my phone and then reconnected it. In the process all my contacts and notes- just on the phone- deleted. My phone is backed up and synced to the cloud but I have to manually enter all my contacts again and I have just lost the notes. How do I fix this; get all my notes and contacts back?

Try iCloud.com/Settings using a computer browser and go to Advanced at the bottom left. Access Restore Contacts.
