Does an iMac keep a total of all the hours for which it has been running since new?

Hello again!

Does an iMac keep a total of all the hours for which it has been running since new?

It's probably easy to find a record - but only if one knows how!

Help will be much appreciated.

TIA

The results include:

  • The current time
  • The length of time the system has been up/running since boot up.
  • You should always find a minimum of 2 users. The Administrator account, and the standard user account. Even if the standard user has been elevated to the Administrator level.
  • The average system load over the last 1, 5, and 15 minutes.

It's not exactly what you're looking for, however if your iMac has a hard drive in it you can run a utility like Smart Utility from Volitans Software which provides the Power On Hours data collected by the internal hard drive's SMART logs. Obviously this number doesn't reflect the true power on hours of the iMac depending on how your energy saver preferences are set, but it does provide some information that may be valuable in assessing a system. Of course, if the hard drive has been replaced the prior hard drive's SMART data was lost.
