where is boot-camp data saved?

This may be a silly question, but I'm thinking about setting up boot camp for my macbook pro, which only has 500 GB of memory. Let's assume, I install windows 10 on my macbook and download a huge file, for example GTA V. The game is saved on my macbook, right? Can I put it on an external hard drive? Because I don't wan't having my memory filled up with games only on my macbook.

Radeon pro vega 20 (4Gb VRAM)

Yes. For example, if you have a 512Gb external disk,


  • you can partition it in two parts using macOS Disk Utility as HFS+ and FAT32. You can then convert FAT32 to NTFS when booted in Windows, or,
  • you can partition it as a single disk with exFAT, or, a combination that suits your needs


macOS can read NTFS, but cannot write to it, by default.

Yes. You can install W10 on your Mac on a 100GB internal partition. Once installed, connect an external drive (say D:) and install any additional software on it after you create a suitably-sized NTFS partition. You can also dedicate the entire external disk to NTFS for Windows external storage.
