You'll need an external optical drive. I suggest you get one that is a drawer loading drive instead of a slot loader like the Apple Superdrive. OWC (macsales.com) is an excellent source for a number of possible external optical drives.
I got one of their drawer loading drives that had FW800/USB 3 so I could rip audiobooks at very fast speeds with my older iMac (FW800) and now my new one (USB 3).
You can also get some 3rd party drives at the big box electronic stores for under $20. It's all about what you need and can afford. Good luck.
Personally I have 2 USB external LG DVD/CD drives that I use with my Mac's. One is an older Desktop and the other is a ultra slim portable.

Like babowa say's, just make sure that whatever you buy is macOS compatible.
thank you..but the reviews on this product are pretty bad...any other alternative?
You can use any external burner With a USB port unless they specifically state that they are only compatible with Windows. Simply plug it in, it will not show up - only the CD will. l
