yesterday i had a new 4TG WD passport with an Apple password to it. today my external hard drive is empty and Apple support is nowhere. what happened and why? the icon on the passport doesn't show on the desktop. why? it's now useless without Apple security & password. thanks for your time and energy to everyone who responds.
How was the WD drive formatted and connected to your Mac?
What Mac model do you have and running what system version?
Did you use the WD software that came with the drive? It's not needed and usually causes more problems for the system than good.
How did you password protect the drive?
Are all the checkboxes in the Finder Preferences/General preference pane checked?
