Maybe you should clarify exactly what is going on. You are posting in the macOS Mojave forum and you mentioned a Mac. Now you are talking about a phone.

Web scams are quite common, but they go away when you close the browser window or quit your browser. If you are getting this display when no web browser is running, then you could have adware.

Your own personal requirements are the most important!

The current operating system has full detail here:- https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201475

However, it will shortly be superseded by the next OS - Catalina. https://www.apple.com/uk/macos/catalina-preview/

I'm so pleased to learn that, like me, you love your Mac! Please make sure though, that whatever you choose to do, ensure that you have a backup of all your data!

Again thank you for all the help and so you will know, I am still using High Sierra as my computer skills are limited by choice and I have to focus on "hands on" outdoor projects which suck up most of my time leaving me regrettably somewhat lacking in other arenas. Back to work and I appreciate all the help. Also I was able to go to applications, and pull up the most recent sites I had visited whilst researching "Berm homes, for an upcoming development project. I discovered some files with similarities to ones that had been inexplicably intruding on my Mac and deleted same or sent to trash and problem solved. I love my Mac.

In 10 years this is the only issue I have ever had. Cut my time on the computer daily from 3hrs to 30 minutes and has been one of my best experiences over the last 20 years.
