Downloading Apple Card transactions for accounting?

I am excited about the new Apple card for all sorts of reasons, but one issue seems not to be addressed anywhere I can find: how do I import Apple card transaction data for use in my desktop accounting software -- like iBank or Quicken or whatever? For any other credit card, it's a simple matter to download a .qif file or .csv data file for import to my accounting records . . . but I see no mention of this in the Apple literature.

I asked at an Apple Store and a genius told me I could download a PDF of my transactions from the Wallet app. Uh, no.

Surely Apple isn't ignoring this fundamental aspect of family finance . . . are they? Or is this one of their pure plays to force people to abandon familiar tools to adopt a new paradigm?

See the following from See your Apple Card spending history - Apple Support

Exporting data from Apple Card to a financial app like Mint is not currently supported.

The Apple Store was most likely referring to the following from How to make Apple Card payments - Apple Support

To view your payment history, follow these steps:

    1. Open Wallet on your iPhone and tap Apple Card.
    2. Tap Total Balance.
    3. Scroll down and select the Statement you want to view.

Next to Payments and Credits you see the amount of Payments and Credits from the month you selected. If you want to download a PDF of the statement, tap Download PDF Statement. Payments and Credits includes payments you might have made, refunds on purchases you returned, and credits you might have received from a transaction dispute.

1. Using Adobe Reader, open your Apple Card monthly statement. Don’t use Apple’s Preview app in place of Adobe Reader. It will jumble things.

2. Select and Copy (command c) the transaction lines from the PDF document and Paste(command v) them into a blank MS Word document, and then hit the Return key. If there are multiple pages of transaction lines, then repeat the copy and paste in this step for each of them, such that all of the monthly transactions are contiguous in a single Word document. Note that in the Word document the columns which are shown in the PDF document as columns are now separated by just spaces. That’s the crux of the problem. So…

3. Using Word’s Edit > Find > Advanced Find and Replace..., click Replace and then the button, and subsequently the Use Wildcards check box.

4. Copy the following (not including the quotation marks) and Paste it into the Find whatfield:

     "(*) (*) (?%) (*) (*)"

and then Copy:

     "\1^t\2^t\3^t\4^t\5"

(again not including quotation marks) and Paste that into the Replace with field, and then hit Replace All.

5. Now just Select All and Copyfrom your Word document, and Paste what's been copied into a blank Excel document where you can increase the font size, widen the columns to match their content, insert a new line at the top wherein you can type in column headings, etc.

Voilà

Hi! I wanted to download my Apple Card transactions as a csv and not just a pdf so I created a converter here:

https://github.com/noahgamboa/applecardpdf2csv

it's written in python so if you're familiar with the command line you can use it to get a list of your transactions (doesn't support interest yet). I would really like to generalize so if you have any problems and could file an issue that would be awesome!

I agree with this sentiment. I got Apple Card and was ready to use it as my daily card, but only after getting it did I learn that it won’t connect with Mint or Personal Capital. This is a no-go for me.

I have all of my personal accounts feeding into Personal Capital so I can manage my financial picture, and if Apple Card won’t work with it, then I won’t work with Apple Card.

@Philly_Phan - this is very helpful and worked right away....thank you. LGM!!!

I did reach out to Apple support to see when they would support .csv downloads for integration with other apps, and they said it was not on their roadmap. This workaround - although it works - is just a workaround and takes times and effort, even if just done monthly. If Apple/GS does not support better integration capabilities in the future, I will also leave. At a minimum ,they could have at least made the PDF so that you could export as a table. Pretty pathetic for a technology company.

OMG -- thanks for the boilerplate -- at least it confirmed my fear: Apple is not interested in making their credit card a realistic player in home finance. I can do everything I could hope for with an Apple card . . . except integrate it with my larger fiscal planning. Which is to say . . . can't use it.

This is sort of like offering me a special card for buying gasoline without going to a gas station, but the only downside is that I can't put it directly into my car. I have to go to a depot, load the gas into a container and then transfer it to my car's gas tank when I get home.
