Drive initializing popup

So since today my 2013 mbp retina is super slow, not responsive, spinning beachball, doesnt seem to connect to the internet and a couple of mins after booting I got popup “drive initializing”

never seen this. Could this mean my ssd is failing?

at the moment I am doing a timemachine restore see if that makes a difference.

Any idea what this could be an indication of?

After deleting all the cache files in library/cache I restarted the computer, no difference. I gave up, turned computer off and went to bed. Restarted computer this morning and it booted fast, icons at the top appeared straight away, dropbox immediately started to connect and sync. Thought that was a good start to the day!

Tried opening safari and it opened without spinning beach balls and connected with the internet!

All seems to be working again. Emptying cache folder seemed to do the trick.

Hope this info helps anybody with the same problem.

With out a screen shot of the dialog, it is hard to say what this is about, unless you have more information

Inititlizing a HD/SSD is to wipe it out/reformat leaving you with a drive in need of a Operating System.

Does your Mac boot and run?

You can get a good look at your System config. for conflicts or issues, you can run this utility http://etrecheck.com

Ok tried making system report but it just hangs on “saving system report” for about 5 mins and then saves the file. How could I share this file (4,2 mb)? Can I make photos with my iphone and share them in a post made on my phone? Weird thing is, I can airdrop files from the laptop to the phone and I can transfer from my laptop to my synology nas. Just cannot connect to the internet and system remains sluggish and non responsive. After booting I got the initialize popup again

also tried going to http://etrecheck.com/ but cannot connect to internet (tried wifi, tried ethernet cable and tried my mobile hotspot iphone)

also tried restart with alt -D for diagnostics. Just mentioned battery not as good as new then it would try and load an apple webpage which did not load.

I am stuck and don’t know what to do at the moment. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance to any person tuning in to this thread.

so I think I narrowed it down to a ethernet connection problem. Yesterday all worked fine. My ethernet connection coming from an 8 port tplink home switch has other devices connected like a MAG275 iptv box. If I plugged the macbook ethernet cable straight into the router, no problems. Plugging into switch, did/didn't work, or MAG275 couldn't connect to internet.

My thought was that tplink switch broken, just got a new one, plugged it all in and everything worked fine for 3 hours when the MAG275 stopped working - no internet connection. Took the ethernet connection from the MAG275 and plugged into macbook, speedtest worked great. Rebooted all devices (router, switch, MBP and MAG275) now only Apple TV still works on the switch but MAG275 and the MBP do not get a connection.

Ran FING in iphone app to check IP addresses but no sure if IP address conflict would show up? Connecting MBP with wifi works ok (using that now), ethernet connection coming from switch does not seem to work again.

If I leave Ethernet connected to the MBP, I cannot connect with wifi. If I physically disconnect the ethernet connection (thunderbolt) then the wifi does connect
