An iPod touch does support that, but that's newer than the iPod Classic.

Confusingly, there's also a sixth generation iPod classic, and a sixth- and a seventh-generation iPod touch.

If this really is an iPod Classic? That doesn’t support this.

iPod Classic provides audio and video, only. Not mail and related capabilities.

Or did you possibly mean iPod Touch?

If it’s an iPod Touch, which generation, and which iOS version?

iPod Touch can support this, though it’d show up in the iTunes synch-related settings.

What version of iOS is on the iPod?
