Check mark next to caller I’d area

I know the title might not make sense, but I received a call from Florida, I blocked it as I don’t know anyone from Florida, but there’s a check mark next to where it says the area the phone number is registered to

I’ve blocked and received many calls lately, but none have had this odd check mark.

Does anyone know why this is?

Caller Verification Services

  • Caller Verified Check Mark, is a new technology aimed at reducing spoofed calls to customers.

Spoofed calls occur when a scammer temporarily hijacks a number to match the area code and prefix of the person's phone number being targeted. Current protection apps only block known scam numbers, not spoofed calls.

  • Calls marked as verified have an on-screen display when a call has been verified. Non-verified calls or calls from customers of other mobile carriers continue to come in as not verified.
  • "Calls from customers of other carriers will continue to come in as not verified (Unchecked)"
