Reset iCloud password on Mojave

Are you having trouble getting your iCloud account to go online after updating your iOS devices to 12.4, your Mac to 10.14.6, or just your AppleID password? I was, too. I read through the articles here in communities but found them to not have a simple, easy way to do so.

Short and sweet: On your Mac go to System Preferences, Internet Accounts, click the + icon bottom left, click on ICloud in the right pane, then just add in your AppleID and password, and voila', you're there!

I think Accounts doesn't allow one to have two instances of the same email address so it simply updates the password to the (correct) one you entered for your AppleID.

I hope this is helpful!

When a new Mac is set up https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT205749

you need an Apple ID to be created with some mail services , like gmail , yahoo ...etc https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mh35903/10.14/mac/10.14

Make sure the gmail address and its password is kept same as Apple ID and password ( the web mail address will get configured with iCloud server ) .

And in system preferences > iCloud the Apple ID is signed in , the internet accounts will get set up automatically https://support.apple.com/en-au/guide/mac-help/mh35565/mac

If ever you forgot Apple ID password , for secondary authentication account you need working rescue mail account - its mail address and password , three correct answers for security questions , date of birth see this article to reset the password https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201487

Tygb,

All really helpful info. Kudos! My post was not a question, rather an answer to anyone who recently upgraded their existing iOS/MacOS to the latest version and found themselves 'locked out' of their iCloud account.

I take full responsibility for not being any more excrutiatingly obvious and detailed as I was, and I congratulate you for surrounding my post with references that are useful for other situations.

Cheers.
